The silk road is through Sesta Lab

Sesta Lab is confirmed as a strategic milestone of gas turbine development for aero, space, supersonic flight, naval, oil&gas and power generation markets. During last five years several companies from USA, South Korea, China and Iran have reinforced their development thanks to Sesta Lab. Never the less the Italians BHGE, Ansaldo Energia and AvioAero have done.
On 17th and 18th September a delegation from China will be in Sesta Lab. Product development managers of Shanghai Electric and Shangai TV station team will take part of this event. The idea of this event comes from the Shanghai Municipal Government. It wants to highlight the collaboration between China and Italy with the background of One Belt One Road (OBOR) program. It is the "New silk road".

For benefit of someone does not know how Sesta Lab supports the transportation and energy worlds. Basically the final output is a report of industrial tests where the boundary condition are replicated on combustion system (prototype) as if it were installed in the real gas turbine. In this a way an isolate combustion development is allowed.
This capability is important because allows to develop new gas turbines optimized for a precise scenario. Developing combustion by itself instead in a whole gas turbine let possible to push to the limit with a lower hardware risk. Efficiency and emissions are known although a complete gas turbine at that time is not available. Working in that way allows to sale based on the project and to validate numerical models for developing purpose.

The advantage can be summarized in cost reduction and time to market reduction. Worldwide a service similar to the Sesta Lab one is available just in two three industrial plants.
